They are used to form the best hand combination. 2 cards are dealt face down to each player in Texas Holdem. There are five community cards, which are dealt down to the table. After the deal there is a betting round, after which three community cards are turned up. Then there is one more betting round. One more community cards is turned up and one more betting round follows. The last card is flipped, a final round if betting ensues, and finally a showdown in which players make their best hands using their two pocket cards and the table's five shared cards. The player who has formed the best hand is the winner.
